No Worries, Mate!!…….

No worries, mate!  I am sure that we are all familiar with this colloquialism, are we not?  This long-standing Australian phrase was brought to our collective attention I believe with the release of that wonderful movie Crocodile Dundee.  This is a movie that I am sure all of us are familiar with.  The character of Crocodile Dundee was the absolute embodiment of those three small words.  No worries, mate!   An interesting trio of words which together convey a lifestyle which I daresay is radically different than the lives of so many.  Then I began to wonder when that saying came about and what did it mean really?  After a bit of research, I found that this phrase became popular in Australia around 1920 or in the opinion of others, it presented itself in the 1950’s.  No matter the decade, “No worries!” has been around for a bit of time.  As to the exact meaning that is conveyed in the utterance of these words?  There were actually several definitions as well as opinions reflected on the sites I visited.  But the one that I chose to embrace fully goes like this – “An expression of forgiveness or reassurance (No problem; Forget about it; I can do it; Yes, I’ll do it) I rather like that, don’t you?  No worries.  However, this does bring forth a question and a rather important one at that.  And the question is as difficult as it is simple.  Are you prepared for the question and will you know immediately the answer?  Here it is for you just now.  How is your Life, my friend?  Are you living a Life that is fraught with concern and filled with anxiousness?  Do you arise each day with senses that are worn and weary, perhaps even dreading the day that is stretched out before you, like so many miles of bad road?  Do you wish fervently that you could simply crawl back under the covers and hide from the stresses that wait for you so very patiently?  And when your long and arduous day has finally completed itself, do you return to your home wanting nothing more than to forget the tiresome journey of Life that you experienced that day?  When you eat your evening meal, do you do so quickly and more out of a sense of duty since nutrition is vital to survival?  Have you forgotten what it is to truly enjoy a meal?  If you feel that this is of little importance, then think on this some more.  All things work together in Life.  If there is a lack in one area, it does indeed affect the whole.   And my friend, I would also ask you this as well.  Do you find yourself  recounting and rehashing the day now past while at the same time chastising yourself for surely you could have done things better if you had only done this thing that way instead of the other way?   Does any of this resonate within your Being, friends?  I know that  thoughts of this nature run rampant in so many of our minds and lay hold to our very Spirit.  Is this the truth of your life today?

Perhaps then, just perhaps we should take a few moments and make an adjustment to our manner of thinking, yes?  “No worries, mate!”  Again to refresh and drive home the idea, these words defined mean “An expression of forgiveness or reassurance”.  Let us make these three words our mantra, if you will.  Let us apply then these three words to all those we encounter on the Life road we travel each day.  But just as importantly (if not more so) let us apply this principle to ourselves.  Be kind and gentle enough to say to yourself  “No worries, mate!”  That is to say forgive yourself  if you fall short of the standard that you have set for yourself and then reassure yourself  that while you could have done better, tomorrow is a new day and each new day brings with it a fresh beginning.  I might add that the word mate is defined as  friend.  Be a friend to yourself as you move through this, our world.  Please do remember that.  “But what of my miserable failure of today?” you might ask. “What of that?”  Dear friend, remember that today while quite precious is only a memory that becomes yesterday.  So I say to you once again “No worries!”  Or to put it another way “Forget about it!”  I might also add that there are indeed no failures on the road you are traveling, the Road of Purpose.  What we view as failures are in reality the steps required in order to meet with our predestined success.  As you have undoubtedly heard before and often, the only true failing is when we have not made an attempt to succeed.  That having been said,  “Forget about it!”  Remember that when we abase ourselves, we open wide the door that permits self-degradation to enter the sanctity of Spirit, our Spirit.  For the sake of ourselves as well as others, let us not allow this to occur, yes?  Good.  It seems we have an accord then, you and I.  Besides, if our own Creator who has placed Divinity within our very beings can look upon us, love us and forgive us for our human frailties, why then can we not be a bit kinder in how we treat ourselves?  And this is not a “I’m okay, you’re okay which makes everything acceptable” statement.  Please do understand that.  We are, each one of us gifted with intellect, discernment and the ability to know what is proper and improper.  I am only saying that we will take the wrong road on occasion and when this happens, do recognize it and do remember it.  Then step back up onto the right road and continue towards your Purpose.  This is, I believe the cornerstone of the phrase “No worries!”

Now if you will, permit me to say this as well.  There was something I heard on a program which caused me to write this evening.  In order to live a life in accordance with a “No worries!” philosophy, one must truly relinquish control of their Life to the One who brought them into being.  It is only then that freedom is established from within and unprecedented growth can be experienced.  As it has been said in so many ways, “It is only in giving up that we are given back and that in good measure.”  Am I saying that we are to surrender, to simply give up?  Yes. We are to give up, to surrender completely.  However, to give up does not mean we are to simply lay down and let Life roll over us.  We were brought into this world with gifts and abilities that are innate.  Our Creator does indeed expect that we use said gifts and abilities as tools in the formation of our lives.  Perhaps the simplest way to convey this idea is to quote my dear brother who one day said to me, “You must pray and row your boat!”  The boat is the vessel provided us that we may remain afloat while crossing Life’s ocean and the oars are the gifts and abilities to be used to help direct our course, if you will.  That is why the oars are provided you see.  But bear in mind that the currents as well as the waves and the tides are directed by our Captain, if you will.

And it would appear that I may have drifted a bit off course here tonight.  I have but one response to give in this situation.  Yes, you guessed it, my friends. No worries, mate!”  I believe that somewhere in this body of words this evening, there was a bit, perhaps a nugget that was of some good to someone this evening.  I truly hope this is the case.  And I would like to say that right about now, I’d be goin’ walkabout.  However, since the hour is late and the morning comes early, I believe that I will simply head off to a few hours of slumber.

Take care with yourselves and always be good one to another.  Blessings in abundance coming your way!
